Fortress Investment Group, founded in 1998, is a New York based global investment management company. The company is a private equity firm that manages client’s alternative assets. The assets range through private equity, credit funds, and liquid hedge funds. As of March 2021, the firm controls roughly 53.1 billion dollars of investments in place of close to over 1,800 institutional clients and investors.
The Fortress Investment Group provides financing solutions while investing in undervalued credit investments, real estate, and lending cash. Their global reach allows them to also input into private equity funds that focus on credits, hybrid hedge funds, and loans.
Recently the firm in New York announced that they purchased an equity and debt portfolio from a digital business company, Colony Capital. The agreement sees associated Fortress affiliates manage assets of over $2.7 billion. Colony will receive a net of $535 million from Fortress Investment Group for the non-digital real estate properties positions. As Colony Capital edges towards becoming an entirely digital business, the sale of the OED portfolio strengthens its journey towards that goal.
The sale will be finalized later this year in the fourth quarter after passing the necessary requirements. Through this sale, the Fortress Investment Group will solve Colony’s OED portfolio, in the same breath providing much-needed guidance and high-quality assistance for the CDCF investors. The OED assets are highly diversified through investment types, locations, industries, and asset classes. The managing director sees the transaction of the complex assets as the perfect fit for the firm’s vast experiences and highly skillful management.
